Volunteer to Help Your Band

Our students rely on all of us being involved to help make every Band and Color Guard event special for them.   The idea that it takes the entire village to build a strong community, holds true with our Band Family.   The more of us that volunteer, the less work there is, and the more fun the work becomes.

Remember too, this is it - many of our students will soon be out of the house.   The more time you volunteer, the more you get to be around your son or your daughter.   They want to see you there, and you will enjoy being there to share in their final years of High School.

Concessions:   Largest General Fundraiser to fund the program

Friday night home football games are a great way to help - we need 30 people every home football game.   Thursday nights before a football game, we need parents to help prep food and organize things.   On Friday Nights we need parents as:  order takers, scoopers, refillers, money counters, food preppers, grillers and cleaners - there is a job that you would be good at.   Several shifts available.  And believe it or not - it's fun too!

Also, we have various other events, where Band and Color Guard have the opportunity to open and run the concession stand.

Events:

Marching Season, Fall:  RBV Premier Tournament, Toys for Tots, Holiday Concert.

Concert Season, Spring:  Round-Up, Showdown, Pop's.

These events showcase the skills they practice so hard to acquire during their training.  We also raise money at these events to supplement the program.  Your contributions only cover about half of the actual cost of running our Band and Color Guard Program, therefore our Events are a critical part of making up the difference.

To Volunteer for helping with our Events email Eileen Maurer.

Chaperones:  Keep a close eye on all the action ; )

Every student event has to be chapparoned by parents in order to ensure the safety of our students.

The events we need Chaperones for:  Home Football Games, Marching Tournaments, Drum Line Events, Color Guard Events, Jazz Band Travel and Special Trips.

Help us by emailing Ali Knack.

Fundraising:  Helps the band and you collect the extra money needed to run the program.

Program Sales Ads, Buick Open Ticket Sales, See's Candy, Innisbrook Wrapping Paper, Rummage Sale.

All the Fundraising Activities and Dates are on the Calendar.  For details, click on the calendar item and it will open up with all the info!

We need your help, please email Eric Opdahl , Chair Ways and Means.

Equipment Roadie:  Strong volunteers to help load and unload the instruments

During marching season, between Oct and Dec, we will need strong volunteers before, during and after Marching Tournaments.  RBV Band and Color Guard has a Semi-Trailer to transport all the instruments to various field tournaments throughout Southern California.

So before we leave, we load.  When we arrive, we unload.  During the show, we push the equipment onto the field.  After the show, we push the equipment back to the Semi-Trailer and reload.   Back at RBV High School after the field tournament - we unload again.

We can use help for any or all of the parts.   Dads love this stuff - women, wrangle in your man-folk!  Just show up and help is fine too.  We usually car pool to the field shows.  Bring water, sun screen and a jacket.

If you want to have fun being a Roadie, email Eric Opdahl.
